Design brand DEKA brings an individual vision and a thoughtful approach to sustainability to its new collection

London cool meets sustainability in a recently unveiled collection by new kid on the block DEKA. Marking its official launch in style at the renovated Village Underground in Shoreditch in November last year, the new furniture brand is bringing its own sustainable approach to design and manufacturing.
Celebrating local manufacturing, cross- disciplinary design influences and a considered approach to responsible furniture design, DEKA’s distinctive philosophy is propelled by a vision where fashion collides with interiors and materials. Offering a fresh, contemporary perspective on British design, the result is a new design label that eschews ephemeral trends and the ubiquitous looks taking over social media, in the search for something more thoughtful and lasting.
Pieces from the newly launched collection draw from innovative craftsmanship and the modern elegance of the brand’s London home, in their curved silhouettes, richly textured forms and the sustainable ethos that underpins all of DEKA’s offerings.

Comprising four beautifully designed objects, with further pieces to be announced every quarter, among the new launches are the DC-01 chair, designed by Ric Frampton – a modern-classic design that champions material circularity.
A dining or meeting chair, the timeless piece uses elegant bent tube metal ‘crisscrossing’ visibly under the seat, flowing into a loop detail on the back of the chair. Each part is designed to be removable, repairable and recyclable to ensure the chair remains in use until the end of its life.
Other standout pieces unveiled during the brand’s launch are DEKA’s EDIT table range, which displays a statement ‘X’ frame on the horizontal axis, adding aesthetic and robust qualities. Crafted with superior durability to withstand the rigours of everyday use, EDIT presents a unique expression.
There’s also the SIPS Bistro Table flaunting a bold, unapologetic tube structure in statement shades and varying shapes, while the sophisticated RMD table series adds lightness to any space with a visual language that’s both timeless and playful.

What’s more, each product offers fully traceable materials at all stages of the supply chain with a transparent environmental impact, as well as boasting production techniques that support cirularity.
The pieces, although fashionable, exude a sense of timelessness and echo DEKA’s distinctive brand of contemporary cool. Celebrating the inherent honesty of its materials, this new design label combines innovative British craftsmanship with edgy elegance, resulting in modern designs that promise to last.
‘We are thrilled to introduce DEKA to the world,’ shares Steve Lewis, co-founder of DEKA. ‘We are passionate about making furniture for life, creating products designed and made here in London, for home, work and play.’

Lewis continues: ‘We put the planet’s future first and foremost, taking responsibility for our products throughout their life cycle to ensure each piece is kept in use for as long as possible. We are determined to make a positive impact.’
Committed to controlling carbon footprint and delivering sustainable approaches to design and manufacturing, DEKA arrives at a wider shift in design, where the industry, consumers (and the world) adapt new worldviews, environmental attitudes and sustainable lifestyles. DEKA is responding to this shift toward a culture of sustainable making and consuming with global ambitions to design and manufacture modern furniture produced in local markets.
Passionate about making our world a better place, this UK brand is on a mission to produce furniture for life, taking responsibility for each piece throughout its life cycle, and by doing so, putting the British capital back on the design map.
