A round-up of some of the star turns to be shown at this year’s Salone, including Fritz Hansen’s relaunch of an Arne Jacobsen classic and Karimoku’s fusion of food and furniture

Having launched last year, the London-based brand is backing up its debut with five new products. Collection Two includes Stem Stool in 100 per cent recycled aluminium (pictured), Tetra shelving in European white oak, a stackable stool in thermoformed PET felt, the steel and glass Prism coffee table and the neatly folded Pleat bench. Made in Ratio will host breakfast talks at Spazio Verger on 9, 10 and 11 April, including a panel discussion on digital craft with Icon. (image above)

Front
Front’s Sofia Lagerkvist says the trio are much more selective these days about which projects they work on. The Swedish designers will put their name to about ten products at the show this year, including the Loop mirror (pictured) for Porro – a mirror and shelf combined by a bending frame that resembles the infinity symbol. Front has also made a collection of wood and rattan furniture inspired by the archives of chair maker Gebrüder Thonet Vienna.

Fritz Hansen
Jaime Hayon teams up with Fritz Hansen for a third time, following the success of the Favn sofa and Ro armchair. This time it’s a much more sedate-looking effort: a table called Analog that encourages people to switch off and sit together. The Danish brand also celebrates the relaunch of Drop (pictured), the chair Arne Jacobsen created for the dressing table of the SAS Royal Hotel, Copenhagen, in 1958.

Nendo
Nendo was a name you couldn’t miss at last year’s Salone – from the show stands to the streets, Oki Sato’s prolific design brand had it covered. This year, the domination continues with Nendo’s solo show at Via delle Erbe, an installation for fashion brand COS and new pieces for Cappellini, Desalto, Baccarat, Emeco, Louis Poulsen, Tod’s, Kartell and more. Brushstrokes for Glas Italia (pictured) is an eight-piece collection of glass furniture brushed with colour to produce an effect like wood grain or stone.

Nilufar Gallery
Two new projects go on show at Nilufar. Lindsey Adelman’s organic lighting system Cherrybomb (pictured) is an angular formation of thin brass tubes with hand-blown glass globes at the ends, like cherry buds. Modular fittings allow for a variety of configurations. The other is Ringo by Roberto Giulio Rida, a cabinet covered in mirrored glass and vintage materials from the 1950s and 60s.

Karimoku New Standard
Kitchen Library, the combined concept of Karimoku and Italian food design collective Arabeschi di Latte, is a temporary reading lounge centred around food, books and furniture. Arabeschi serves up dishes inspired by the east and west and Karimoku shows new pieces: a chair by Big Game and a bistro table by Scholten & Baijings.
