Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the design festival makes a comeback with events across Milan’s many creative boroughs. Overlapping with the city’s renowned Salone del Mobile, Fuorisalone will host events that push the limits of design – from urban planning to multi-sensory architecture and more. The design industry’s biggest festival returns for its 61st edition with the 23rd edition of the biennial Euroluce in Milan’s Fiera Milano. Helmed by Maria Porro, the Salone del Mobile president, a highlight of this year’s fair will be the third edition of S.Project, as well as SaloneSatellite, devoted to decorative products as showcased by leading design schools, universities and emerging designers under 35. Venice Biennale of Architecture, Venice Italy

Curated by academic, educator and novelist Lesley Lokko, the 18th International Architecture Exhibition will open in May. Its theme, The Laboratory of the Future, explores the African continent as a leader of the future. Imagining the exhibition as a workshop and laboratory, the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale invites architects and practitioners to draw out examples from their contemporary practices and imagine what the future can hold. labiennale.org

Organised by Form/Design Center, the main venue for architecture, design and craft in southern Sweden, Southern Sweden Design Days is a new player on the scene. Held annually, the design festival focuses on sustainability, collaboration and innovation.
