German design retailer Andreas Murkudis is gearing up for a new exhibition at Store 77 in Berlin, to showcase the colourful works of Belgian design duo Muller Van Severen and contemporary artist, Willem Cole, who originally hails from Ghent. Opening on November 11 and running until 13 January, the exhibition is described as ‘an encounter, a meeting, a conversation’, by its organisers.
A selection of chairs, lamps, tables, shelves and rugs by the Belgian design duo will be on display alongside a carefully curated selection of abstract drawings by contemporary artist Willem Cole, who will also showcase new mosaic rods for the first time. Cole’s practice blends science and painting, genres and media, to create distinct works of art.
‘We’re really excited for this new show at Andreas Murkudis,’ says Fien Muller, co-founder of Muller Van Severen. ‘Andreas was one of the first “believers'”of our work, which created a deep bond. We had our first show in Berlin with him in 2014 and we did some great shows together ever since.’

With their mutual love for colour and research, Muller Van Severen and Willem Cole both operate at the boundary between art and design. While Muller Van Severen’s designs appear to be created almost intuitively and with total effortlessness, the art of Willem Cole is based on three basic colours to create a variety of different designs.
Muller Van Severen was founded by Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen in 2011. As artists, their collections feature sculptural and artistic elements, which has won the team countless awards and collaborations with prestigious museums, such as the Vitra Design Museum, Centre Pompidou and Musée d’Art Décoratif Paris, as well as galleries like Galerie kreo and Tim Van Laere Gallery.
With three expertly curated stores on Potsdamer Strasse in Berlin, Andreas Murkudis is one of Germany’s most renowned retailers. At Store 77, Murkudis showcases a variety of products and brands with thoughtfully curated exhibitions in a gallery-like space, where art, fashion, and a selection of handcrafted furniture and ceramics, perfectly collide.
