True to its style DNA, Valencia-based design studio Masquespacio creates a candy-coloured interior scheme for Amiko Gelato ice cream parlour in Catalonia’s capital

Spanish design studio Masquespacio has unveiled a cheerful interior for Amiko Gelato ice cream parlour in Barcelona. Nestled along the lively Passeig de Gràcia in the city centre, Amiko Gelato merges vibrant colours and darker, earthy tones to create a unique space passersby won’t resist walking into.
Taking its design cues from the past and future, Masquespacio drew on the historic Art Deco architecture of Palm Beach County in Miami to devise the interior scheme. Eye-catching pastel-coloured hues are paired with geometric shapes and reinterpreted in a contemporary style to provide a sense of freshness.
To recreate the feeling of being in an oasis in the city centre, the designers incorporated biophilic design elements via pots, plant wall displays and other smaller decorative accessories dotted throughout the space. Offering a natural backdrop for all design elements to shine, Masquespacio combined elements of nature and a bright colour palette for aesthetic appeal.

Organic shapes inspired by ice cream are integrated into the furniture to add a playful touch, while a bespoke range of coffee cups – also designed by Masquespacio – and a carefully curated music playlist, create a sense of connection between Amiko Gelato and its visitors to the ice cream parlour.
Every corner of Amiko Gelato has been carefully devised to stimulate all the senses. From the soft pastel hues to the soft-touch materials to develop a unique sensory experience, and Masquespacio has created a vibrant interior designed to make you smile.
